In a dumpster outside the stadium: one black and white calico bag containing year 1 school books, and a backpack with a women's black shoe and two mobile phones. If you own these or know someone who does please contact the stadium?
Good spectator behaviour
The Willetton Way PARENTS CODE:
* ENJOY YOUR CHILD'S PARTICIPATION
* SUPPORT YOUR TEAM POSITIVELY
* RESPECT MATCH OFFICIALS
It's timely to remind all parents who spectate games that you are setting the example, not only for your own child, but to other peoples' children as well, on how to be a good sport. The definition of good sport differs from parent to parent, but does not include swearing at kids, coaches, other parents, referees.

Crime in and around the stadium
Parents and players and speectators, there have been a number of instances of theft in the last year, both inside the stadium, and in the car park where cars have been broken into. While we have multiple cameras around the stadium that can assist with police investigations, please note that external footage of the public car park outside is limited, and it is best not to leave valuables unattended (inside or outside the stadium). We have asked the Canning Security Services to step up their vigilance in the car park.

New Player Registration Day
Willetton Basketball will be holding a NEW player registration day on 23 August 2014 for boys and girls wanting to join our 2014/15 Summer Junior competition. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
On busy afternoons many 4x4s (mainly) are parking up on the kerb and verges around the stadium. This poses a safety hazard as the verges are for use by pedestrians, including children. It is difficult for oncoming traffic to see around these vehicles, posing a risk to pedestrians.
We ask that our basketball community please make use of parking by the Sports Club building and walk through if the parking lot is full.
Willetton Basketball club are fortunate to have secured Corpus Christi and All Saints College as training venues, to ensure that as many teams as possible, both Domestic and WABL have appropriate training facilities. It is vital that we respect the venues and the people who work there, so we ask that all players observe the following:
It is important that these rules are followed to ensure that the colleges continue to provide their facilities to us.
Junior Bylaw Changes
Changes to the WBA Junior Bylaws will be effective from the commencement of the Summer 2014/15 season. Members must make themselves familiar with these changes to ensure that they or their children play within the rules.
Bylaw changes attached.
Abuse of referees
Players and parents and coaches please note that if there is an issue with the quality of refereeing during a game, they must bring their concerns to the referee supervisor on duty DURING the game so that appropriate action can be taken during a game. In addition, official complaints in writing can also be lodged, but it is in everyone's interests for referees to be coached on how best to referee while in a game.
Willetton Basketball Association does its utmost to ensure our referees are mentored and assisted to be the best they can be, although many are still learning. Our aim is always to have our members and officials perform to the best of their ability.
Under no circumstances should a parent manhandle a referee, even if it is to "demonstrate" a call they may have missed. Parents and players can be ejected from the stadium, and in more serious cases Willetton Basketball Association has a tribunal process in place under which parents and players can be reported by referees and a tribunal panel has the ability to ban players or officials from this stadium and all other stadiums that are affiliated with Basketball WA.
Mouthguards - wear them!
Willetton Basketball strongly recommends that ALL basketball players (adults and children) play basketball wearing mouthguards. A mouthguard can protect against chipped, broken or lost teeth, bone damage to the jaw, or tissue damage. A custom fitted mouthguard is ideal, but a $10 basic guard available from a pharmacy or our canteen will give basic protection. Basketball can be high impact, and a mouthguard could protect against very expensive dental repair work.
